A single vehicle crash claimed the life of a Kailispell resident early Saturday morning. The crash took place just southeast of Olney, Montana on Highway 93. Montana Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
The crash victim, identified as Rian Britt from Kalispell, was reported to be traveling south along Highway 93 when his Cadillac Escalade veered off of the road, hit the side of the driveway, and flipped over. Britt was ejected from the Escalade. He died at the scene of the crash. Montana Highway Patrol said Britt was not wearing a seatbelt when he lost control of his vehicle.
Sheriff Chuck Curry said Britt was the sole occupant of the vehicle and that the crash took place just before 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Montana Highway Patrol is investigating whether drugs or alcohol might have caused the crash.
Britt’s death is the 59th fatal car crash in Montana during 2018.
