Overturned Fuel Truck Closes Highway 312

Tanker Truck Avoids Crash and Swerves Off Highway 312

On Wednesday evening, a fuel truck drove off the roadway and overturned on Highway 312 just west of Worden. The accident closed the highway for several hours.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a vehicle driving west suddenly swerved into the eastbound lane of Highway 312 to avoid a parked sedan on the side of the road. The parked sedan was empty with a flat tire.

The fuel truck was heading eastbound when it tried to avoid the oncoming vehicle that was encroaching in its lane. The truck then flipped over and landed in an irrigation ditch between North 14 and 15 roads.

Accident authorities arrived at the scene around 5:20 p.m. The driver of the farm tanker truck did not suffer any injuries from the crash. The driver of the oncoming vehicle did not stop and kept driving after the crash.

No one was in the parked sedan.

Luckily, there were no other injuries sustained from the overturned crash on Highway 312.

Although, there were three different types of fuel pouring into the ditch from the accident. All of which were contained, according to Montana Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator KC Williams. First responders waited for absorbers to come and take the fuel, as of 6:30.
