A rollover crash took the life of Box Elder woman early Tuesday morning near Beaver Creek just south of Havre. Montana Highway Patrol said the crash took place shortly after 2 a.m. Two other people were injured in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
The accident took place at the intersection of Beaver Creek and Mooney Coulee Roads. Montana Highway Patrol said the vehicle involved in the crash was a Chevrolet Tahoe being driven by a man from Deer Lodge.
The driver apparently lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to make a left turn. The Tahoe careened off the road and hit a copse of trees. The vehicle then rolled over until it came to a stop on its side. Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Lewis Johnson said the vehicle rolled close to a hundred feet before coming to a stop.
Two of the passengers were rushed to the hospital while another man was left uninjured after the crash. The Box Elder woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
“No one was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle was found rolled onto its driver’s side,” said Trooper Johnson.
Montana Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash. Emergency responders were notified of the crash after one of the passengers came upon nearby campers and had them call 911.
