The front of a local Helena coffee shop was struck by a blue sedan early Tuesday morning after a woman crashed her vehicle through one of the store windows. The driver apparently swerved off of the main road in the west side of Helena and crashed into Fireside Coffee around 8:00 a.m. that morning.
The driver unexpectedly lost control of her vehicle and burst through the front of the store, taking out a window and a few tables and chairs.
The owner of the local Helena coffee shop, Dan Fontaine, said he was busy in the back of his store, prepping for the day when he suddenly heard a loud crash. Fontaine added, “The crash sounded like a roar louder than an earthquake.”
Luckily, no one was in the store at the time of the accident. The only damages were to the front of the Fireside Coffee store, the sedan and the woman.
The driver’s name has not yet been released to the public. But it was reported that there were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
Her current condition has also not yet been released.
Fontaine did mention that the woman was fairly shaken up after the car crash, though her injuries were somewhat minor.
Fireside Coffee is expected to stay open while the store is being repaired. Due to the fact that the coffee shop is located on private property, the driver will not be penalized for her reckless driving.
